With the Rugby World Cup 2021 kicking off on the 8th October 2022, the world’s eyes are on our sport. England’s Red Roses are hot favourites to win after 25 consecutive test wins and the most impressive squad depth an international squad has probably ever seen. The uptake of women and girls joining grassroots football and rugby has boomed after the lionesses euros win in July. Even after England got to the final of the Rugby World Cup 2017, Sheffield’s women’s section doubled in numbers so the potential for coverage of your business this season is huge.
Sheffield Women is a hugely determined, ambitious, inclusive and hard-working club. Our volunteers put in hours of work every week to further the profile and reach of our section. England Rugby have recognised our social media platforms as “incredibly impressive” and creating an example of how clubs can harness online platforms to recruit members and boost the profile of women’s rugby in England and South Yorkshire. We have brilliant engagement on our posts and a regular posting schedule of professional and eye-catching posts. Your business’s name and logo would appear weekly. This, in addition to the reputational benefits of publicly supporting women’s sport at a time where it is in a period of exponential growth makes sponsoring one of our shirts a really exciting and lucrative opportunity.
We have two teams to sponsor, the first team in Championship 2 North (the 3rd tier of women’s rugby) and a development team ‘the Roses’ who play in a local friendly league (the ‘Inner Warrior series). There as just as many benefits to sponsoring a shirt from either team. Despite the Roses having fewer games, this season we will look to highlight them on social media in other ways, such as player profiles, team news and stories, to ensure sponsors of both teams have equal coverage. We are committed to equal opportunities and inclusion and want all members, sponsors, and the wider rugby family to know how dedicated we are to both the new, developing players and the seasoned first team players.
Your benefits: Every sponsor’s logo will appear on every team-sheet announcement, every post-match report where your shirt number is mentioned and on regular sponsor ‘thank you’ and highlight posts throughout the season. Your logo and name will appear on the club website. Invites to a sponsor’s lunch will allow you to network with other local business and enjoy fantastic food from Omega. As an extra special thank you, we also provide sponsors with a free pint in Abbeydale’s award-winning clubhouse when the player wearing your shirt number scores at a home game!
So what’s in it for us? We are completely transparent and open about where your money goes. £50 from each shirt sponsorship goes directly to subsidising the season’s kit order. We will be kitting out every paying member with a warm-up t-shirt and post-match polo shirt from our new kit provider Umbro. The rest of the money subsidises high-level coaching, coach transport to away games, post-training food, a qualified pitch-side physiotherapist for matchdays, access to physiotherapy appointments for injury rehab and training equipment. We cannot provide all that without the generosity of our sponsors.
