Sheffield RUFC are to host a day of women’s and girls’ rugby this Saturday (2nd April) to mark the senior women’s section’s 25th season. What better way to pay tribute to every player, coach, volunteer and supporter past and present than to showcase both women’s teams and the thriving swans section in one day.
The day kicks off with a development game featuring our Roses vs Hallam/University/Tigers Barbarians at 10:40am followed by a girls tournament featuring players from local schools and our very own Swans.
At 1pm the Senior Women’s First XV kick off against Crewe & Nantwich Ladies in a Championship 2 North fixture. The away leg proved a physical, hard-fought affair and Sheffield must win at home to stay in contention for the top of the table. It promises to be a brilliant battle!
Stay around for the Men’s First XV team KO at 3pm vs Syston – another important game that could give Sheffield some distance between 2nd and 3rd in the Midlands Premier table.
There will be plenty to see and do on the touchlines, with a live DJ, fun games, special guests, a raffle with some fantastic prizes, and photo board with as many old photos from the archives as we could find! Take a walk down memory lane and see how many faces you can spot! From 2pm-5pm there will be a wood-fired pizza van and of course our fantastic clubhouse bar will be open throughout the day for refreshments.
Entrance will be the cost of a special women’s edition matchday programme (£5). Limited edition commemorative silver pin badges will be on sale for £5. Get your hands on a small token of our history!
