Simon took on the U9’s squad last season when they joined up, mainly from RuggerEds, when bringing in his two boys to our club. Simon had no hesitation in coming forward to volunteer as Lead Coach having had great times playing Senior Rugby here at Sheffield RUFC. Simon has embraced all the necessary online coaching qualifications and is looking forward to taking this forward as his young squad develops.
Our club philosophy is to run with volunteer parent coaches, for Age Grades, who have a vested interest in their squad and club. It has worked very successfully to date and will continue that way for the foreseeable future, we do not remunerate our Mini and Junior Coaches and they are all club members committed to the success of our Mini and Juniors.
Simon has a had a great first season with his squad, it is definitely an age group to follow as they are off to flyer, mainly due to Simon’s commitment which we are extremely grateful for. We are up to 18 players as it stands and enquiries coming in all the time as the positivity works its magic.
Under 9’s have some activities lined up for the summer in order to get ready for tackling during matches in the new season commencing Sunday 3rd September .
