We are delighted to announce that this year’s summer ball will be held in honour of the Lewis Moody Foundation.
Lewis Moody is the latest high-profile rugby player to be diagnosed with MND. With this in mind, SRUFC continues its long-standing support of research into this horrendous illness.
The Foundation was actually set up in 2012 by Lewis and his wife Annie having been introduced to Joss Starkey a young age grade Sheffield Club player who had been diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma. Lewis immediately offered to help and came and did a training session for the group. After this he launched the Foundation ensuring some fabulous moments for Joss and his family before Joss lost his courageous and selfless battle in April 2013.
It’s more than ironic that we now have the opportunity to return that love and this Summer Ball with your support will enable us to raise some serious money for the Foundation.
